A major indicator of how commerce has changed in 2020.

Among the many surprises of 2020, one of the less compelling ones was the eCommerce boom. It makes sense. Shoppers were increasingly moving online to begin, buying on mobile devices and apps, and genuinely growing more comfortable with buying staples without necessarily seeing them first.

That a global pandemic would drastically accelerate the move online for millions of consumers is perhaps one of the only bankable realities of this year. That said, the more data that comes out, the more entrenched this new reality seems. In our Stat of the Week, we compared eCommerce figures in the U.S. in the first six months of 2019 versus its 2020 counterparts. Even with just three-and-a-half months of pandemic-related eCommerce factored in, the result were remarkable.
